About Ram Mohan Rao
Ram Mohan Rao is Executive Director at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He took charge as Executive Director in January 2024 for a three-year term, initially handling the Investigation Department and the Internal Inspection Department, and currently oversees the Market Intermediaries Regulation and Supervision Department.
Rao has been with SEBI for more than 25 years. Before his appointment as Executive Director he was Regional Director of SEBI's Eastern Regional Office in Kolkata from 2021 to 2023, supervising inspections, collective investment schemes, litigation, recovery, investor service centres, investor awareness, grievance redressal and coordination with 13 states and union territories. Earlier he handled inspections, investigations and market surveillance, served at the Northern Regional Office in Delhi, and spent five years as Assistant Director at the Serious Fraud Investigation Office.
He joined SEBI in 1998 after working at ING Vysya Bank. He holds a BE in Civil Engineering and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and an LLB from Mumbai University.
