About Deepak Sharma
Deepak Sharma is an Independent Director of Suryoday Small Finance Bank, appointed to the board in April 2024 for a five-year term. He is also an Independent Director of Experian India, chairing its technology and security committee, and founder of Venture Studios, which advises growth-stage companies.
He spent more than 15 years at Kotak Mahindra Bank, until October 2023, and was the bank's first President and Chief Digital Officer for over five years. At Kotak he set up the NRI banking business, launched the Privy League priority banking programme and, from 2013, led the bank's digital business, including the Kotak 811 digital bank, biometric and video-KYC account opening and its India Stack work on UPI, CBDC and ONDC. Earlier he was business head for Smartpay at Standard Chartered Bank and worked at Hutchison Max.
He has completed executive programmes at MIT, Stanford Graduate School of Business and IIM Calcutta, and served on CII's Digital Transformation Committee and FICCI's National Committee on Fintech.
